About
I am a Ph.D. student in Computer Science at Michigan State University and a visiting research student at the University of Michigan, advised by Prof. Jiayu Zhou in both roles.
My research focuses on optimization for machine learning and clinical AI. My recent work studies regret and convergence guarantees for Adam, including under heavy-tailed noise. In clinical AI, I develop models that connect conversational language with biomarkers of cognitive decline and am exploring efficient sequence models for long, irregularly timed clinical event sequences.
Before my Ph.D., I earned a Master of Technology from Kent State University in 2021 and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Design Manufacture and Automation from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2013. From 2013 to 2019, I worked as an electronics engineer.
